Drag
Week 2025 was so far away I almost didn't want to go, but I'm glad we
did! We really enjoyed seeing the new scenery and it was great visiting
tracks I had only heard of in the past.
Its taking forever to get the Zephyr done and back on the road, there
just seems to be one setback after another but I WILL get there. :) But
this was definitely not gonna be the year of the Zephyr for Drag Week
even though I had registered it I had to switch over to plan B, the
wagon.
Tried and true and dependable as the wagon is it just won't run with
the Zephyr but it is still a lot of fun (and the wife loves it). After
proving the past two Drag Weeks that the engine troubles are a thing of
the past (hopefully permanently) I decided to "safely"use the nitrous
at evey track this year. I employed a 2 second delay before it turned
on and it also has a rpm range that it sprays in, 3000-6000 is the
window. I only had the car shifting at 5500 though the entire time.
Also speaking of safety upon arrival at MIR I noticed my front runner
tires were dated 2008! Luckily Mickey Thompson tires was an event
sponsor and hooked me up with a fresh pair of "et front" tires. :)
OK
finally to the racing, Day 1 Maryland International Raceway Budds Creek, MD.
The brakes issue is still present as can be seen in the video of the
run the front brakes are locked and the car is pushing across the
finish line. I won the race but I'm sure the redlight start helped out
here. Video day 1
This was not the best run ever for this car but it was the first day.

Big traffic holdup on this day, racers were allowed to
take any alternate route they wanted but we were already stuck in
it due to an RV on fire. Friends Jason and Ncole Pollard in the gold
minivan behind us (supercharged LS power).
Day
2
Numidia Dragway Numidia,PA this was the longest leg of the event 227
miles and 4 hours if you drive it normally but we stayed on the route
given to us but we made it. In the video clip on this day it's the most
obvious example that the front wheels are locked and being pushed
across the line. After this I ended up addressing this problem by
lowering the launch rpm. :(
Video day 2 Things get a little better after this.

1320 video returned to Drag Week and got lots of great shots and videos
Day 3
Maple Grove Raceway Reading,PA For the first time rain was a real
threat but things turned out allright as it managed to miss us. Here
things get a little hilarious, due to the pushing of the front wheels I
lowered the limited launch rpm way down to "fix" this problem but when
I did I accidentally bumped the setting that controls how
the rpm is limited. It should have been on spark only but it got bumped
to spark AND fuel so twice on the line I would stall the car up and it
would die as soon as it got on the limiter. On the third time I begged
the starter to let me try "one more time" and he agreed so I just
footbraked it and ran a best run for the car ever at that time. We
managed to improve from here on out.
Video day 3

Road trippin' day and night at Hot Rod Drag Week 2025
Day
4
Cecil County Dragway Rising Sun, MD back in Maryland after a
couple of days/nights in PA. Car runs another best and this would
be the best mph of the event for it. I vow to fix the brake problem in
order to get a good launch out of it, this was the best launch as far
as getting on the rev limiter and going on the green.
Video day 4

Pretty cool cruisin' next to the milk truck (TT BBC) on
the highway for a bit, and a nice shot of the wagon at Cecil
County Dragway.
Day
5
Maryland International Raceway Budds Creek Maryland. We made it back
for the final day all we have to do is stage, break the
beams and we've done it. I decided to turn the timer off on the nitrous
and have it turn on asap when I take off. Since the nitrous has an rpm
window that starts at 3000rpm and I can't stall it that high due to the
brake problem it came on after about 1/2 second and turned the best
pass yet finally getting into the 12s.
